Radio Phoenix Hosts Intro MIM Concerts

Radio Phoenix Partners with Musical Instrument Museum

Hosts of several Radio Phoenix shows will introduce some of Musical Instrument Museum's most interesting concerts this season.

Thursday, Aug 11, Monsieur-Perine
Introduced by Walt Richardson, host of Radio Phoenix show "My World of Music"
Monsieur Periné is one of the leading bands in Colombia's thriving new music scene. The group won a Latin GRAMMY award for Best New Artist in 2015. Friday, Aug 12, Lizz Wright
Introduced by Alan Weaver, host of Radio Phoenix show "Dream Weaver"
Lizz Wright gained wide recognition in 2003 for her debut record, Salt (Verve). Produced by the legendary Tommy LiPuma, the album helped introduce one of the most captivating female vocalists of her generation as it raced to number two on Billboard's "Top Contemporary Jazz" chart. She was in-studio at Radio Phoenix on "Dream Weaver" during her last tour.

Monday, Aug 15, King Sunny Ade
Introduced by Tom Coulson, host of Radio Phoenix show "Full Moon Hacksaw"
Often called "The African Bob Marley," legendary singer, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and master of Nigeria's hugely popular jùjú music King Sunny Adé and his African Beats-a cadre of seventeen musicians and singers and a rotation of five dancers-return to the United States for a rare appearance, his first US tour since 2009.

Saturday, Aug 20, Dave Riley/Bob Corritore
Introduced by Tom Coulson, host of Radio Phoenix show "Full Moon Hacksaw"
Phoenix-based Bob Corritore passionately carries forward the old-school style he learned as a young man directly from many original pioneers of Chicago Blues. Dave Riley was born in Mississippi and moved to Chicago at a young age. He's lived the real country and city blues all his life. Tom Coulson met Dave while both were guests on the blues radio show 'King Biscuit Time' in Helena, Arkansas. Tom brought Dave to Arizona where he met Bob Corritore, and the rest, as they say, is history."
